Two Square Stone Ring

This is the final project from Stage 6 of the Silver program at Jewellery Training Solutions. I’ve never done a channel setting before, so this was fun to learn. I can definitely see this setting as earrings and a pendant. So many project ideas, so little time!

What were the challenges?

This was fun! It was nice to make a project that didn’t feel like it pushed me to the very edge of my skills. I’m not sure there was one part of this that gave me more trouble than others. I think the thing I actually had the hardest time with was trying to remove all of the file marks. I still need to work on polishing.

Where could I improve?

The ends aren’t as neat as I would like them to be. I’m hoping the stones are nice and secure - I think they are. I should be able to improve the polish on it, too - I have difficulties getting tool marks out of the tight areas.

What did I learn?

The obvious thing learned in this lesson is channel setting. I’m really enjoying seeing the overall progress. Things that were challenging in the beginning of this program are starting to feel much more comfortable.
