Riveted Ring Project
Project 7 in Stage 2 of the Silver Program at Jewellery Training Solutions. This project continues the riveting practice started in the previous project, this time making a ring of our own design. What a lot of fun this was! I had a general idea of what I wanted to do, but this was a fly by the seat of my pants kind of project and I just loved how it turned out!
What were the challenges?
This ring went together really well, but I did have some trouble getting the three layers of the ring to match up. Also, this was the first time that I created invisible rivets. And, to my amazement, they were actually invisible!
Where could I improve?
The flower isn’t centered, and when I drilled the holes for the rivet holding in the flower I apparently didn’t have my drill completely straight. I would have liked to get the rounded rivets more round, too.
What did I learn?
I’m thrilled to understand how to create a truly invisible rivet! I’m also happy with the finish on this project (although the photos show every single little imperfection). I also learned an easier way to cut slots into the domed surfaces.
