Saw Piercing Test
This was a test of both precision marking and sawing. It’s a great test in sawing skills since it’s very obvious if things don’t line up and you can’t saw too far into the corners.
What were the challenges?
The challenges in this one were getting far enough into the corners without going too far, and creating that center square so it’s just right (I didn’t). The other challenge is to make sure it’s completely round, which is always a challenge when cutting circles.
Where could I improve?
I could definitely improve the center square, which is slightly crooked. I used my square file to try to fix it, but finally stopped since I was just making matters worse. This is definitely a project that is worth repeating.
What did I learn?
I’ve known about using my jeweler’s saw as a file, but this project is one that I really put that into use.
